Up to $1,500 back!
On February 17, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed into law. Known as the “stimulus bill,” this Act extended previous tax credits and created new tax credits for adding energy efficiency to existing homes.
Numerous products qualify for this credit, including insulation, windows and doors, and others that help save energy, and can qualify a homeowner for a tax credit of up to 30 percent of the cost of materials (maximum of $1,500), if all other eligibility requirements are met. Installation costs are NOT covered by the tax credit.
What You Need to Know: • Improvements must be “placed in service” in 2009 or 2010 • Improvements must be made on the taxpayer’s principal residence • Products must have a Manufacturer’s Certification Statement (a signed statement from the manufacturer certifying that the product qualifies for the tax credit). |
